There are lots of mood tracking apps out there. They compete in their fancy design, powerful analytics and various features that often extend beyond just tracking moods. Now these apps offer you journaling, mindfulness advices etc.
That’s why I wanted to write a short review for the app that is a completely different in its minimalism. Even if you take a look at its version history from the App Store, you will see that the creator of the app does love to be succinct.

The app name (at least the English one) is also very direct and short: Mood-Tracker.
The interface is also extremely simple. There is no need to login or create account, there are no tutorials or help screens. You just open the app and see the screen where you enter one of five feelings (from Awful to Awesome), possible adding a Note, and that’s it!

On the other screens you can see all your entries as small squares on the whole year, view history of records on the calendar and view some simple analytics. There is no possibility to enter any things that you did while experiencing a particular emotion, no way to set your location, no mood customization.

In order to view your data over the long period of time, you need to either buy a premium version, or view an ad (quite long one unfortunately). But with the absence of any data besides moods themselves, analytics do not look much useful to me.

There is also a Settings screen. It’s also absolutely simple with only one option: choosing the start day of the week.

As a conclusion, the app doesn’t seem like a good option for people who want to analyze their emotions as it doesn’t allow to specify any factors that affect them. It’s also not clear how the app stores data and if it won’t just disappear if you lose your phone. However, it has a nice Yearly display of all your moods and doesn’t overload you with “design” and lots of features, so I assume some might love it for its simplicity.
