If you look at the mood tracking apps, you will definitely see that the free options are quite limited in terms of functionality. This is true as of now, but soon won’t be so:). I’ve spent some time and ready to show you my personal take on this: Funiki.
Funiki means atmosphere, mood or vibes in Japanese. And this is what the app should do. It’s not yet available in the app stores, but will definitely be there in September. Here is a sneak peak of the functionality.

The app meets you with the Feed – it shows all the moods you logged in. It nicely color codes the moods so it’s clear how positive or negative they are.

The next section is Locations. This page shows all the places you’ve logged your moods at. There is no filtering and not much to see here for now, but it still gives you a basic overview of all the places you’ve felt something.
Statistics has everything related to mood data and its changes in the selected period. You can also filter on particular activities to see how they affect your emotions.

You also can see Mood Stability score that tracks how much the mood changes in the period of time.
The last Profile page actually contains the calendar and some additional stats. You can also set the profile picture and change theme (light or dark) here. There is obviously no practical sense in profile picture now, but the option still exists:).

Here you can see the mood data for any month and some activity statistics.
Looking at all the features available, it is obvious that no other free app provides so many features. Only Pixy is somewhat close, but it doesn’t have cloud sync and its UI is slightly outdated because the app wasn’t updated recently. But what makes Funiki unique is the possibility to log a much wider set of moods and emotions than regular “bad” to “good” scale. Here is how it looks:

It is truly a unique feature that is literally unavailable anywhere else.
As a conclusion, at least for me (as the “objective” author/developer of this application:)), the app is simply the best among the free mood tracking applications. There are two drawbacks in the current version though:
- You must register or login to use it. There is no local/anonymous mode. Such cloud-by-default approach has it’s benefits (you can use the app on multiple devices and can be sure the data won’t be lost with the device), but of course it’s not always convenient.
- There is no possibility to customize activities. This is a real problem for advanced users. I hope to fix it soon, but for now you might be slightly limited here.
As of time of writing this preview the app is being reviewed by Apple for App Store, and as soon as it appears there, I will updated the post to include the link.
The app website can be found here: https://funiki.app.
As usual, any feedback is welcome!
