If you try to search for mood tracking apps over the good trusted sources like Reddit, you will find most people praising Daylio. And the app really deserves it! It offers the most statistics, customizations, and various additional features like achievements and goals among similar applications. And unlike some other good options, it still offers basic functionality for free. Yes, it nugs you occasionally about Premium version, but aside from it, you can easily use Daylio even in its free limited version.
So, let’s see why I think it’s currently the best overall mood tracking app on the market!

The main screen is quite simple. You see all your records as a list and can access other screens or create a new record. The design is not the most modern and fancy, but it still does its job very well.
Where Daylio shines though, is its Stats section. Of course, you will have all the various graphs and data available only in paid version. But anyway it’s impressive.

The free version offers mood count, level and activity count statistics. The paid one will show you your average mood, mood stability and many other things. Additional nice feature is Goals. You can set a reminder to do some activities and then see if you do them on this screen as well.
Even looking at the number of screenshots I had to do, it’s clear that Daylio is the most feature-rich mood tracker on the market as of April 2025.
Besides monthly statistics, you can see your annual data too. Lots of graphs and aggregations are available here. Just look at these!

As for me, the Year in Pixels looks very nice and provides a very nice summary for your yearly emotions.
Creating a mood record is simple and straightforward. The app also allows colors/icons customizations as well as adding you activities. For people who are ready to put some effort into adjusting the settings, Daylio offers the best end result. Yes, some users might be happy with something more simple like Unhinged, but others will enjoy the rich customization possibilities of Daylio.

There is also a nice Calendar view that shows daily moods in a similar to Year in Pixels way:

Settings page is the convenient place to access all customizations together:

The app stores all the data locally and allows backing it up to cloud if needed. This is important thing to consider as automatic backups are available only in Premium version, so if you’re using the Free one, you must always remember to do regular backups manually. Otherwise, losing your phone might mean losing your data unfortunately.
Overall, the app is the real treasure for power users who want to have many customizations and are ready to pay for premium experience. It also offers good enough free features, so it’s a good start to mood tracking practices for newbies who are ready to live with slightly complex UI.
Daylio is available for both iOS and Android:
